Pre-IDDF 2021 Small Bowel Endoscopy Workshop

Diagnosis and treatment of small bowel pathologies remain challenging due to the long length of the small bowel. While capsule endoscopy is usually used for the initial small bowel investigation, deep enteroscopy would be needed in patients who require tissue acquisition or therapeutic interventions. Although balloon assisted enteroscopy has been the modality of choice for deep enteroscopy in the past 2 decades, the procedure is often time consuming. Recently, a novel motorized spiral enteroscope (PowerSpiral) has become available and represents a major technological advance for device assisted enteroscopy. Through didactic lectures and hands-on model training*, we strive to bring to the participants the latest knowledge in capsule endoscopy, single balloon enteroscopy and motorized spiral enteroscopy in the management of small bowel diseases.

Didactic Lectures Topics:
Motorized spiral enteroscopy for small bowel diseases: tips and tricks
• Case sharing: motorized spiral enteroscopy
• Small bowel capsule endoscopy for obscure GI bleeding and IBD
• Single balloon enteroscopy: application in standard and altered anatomy
