About IDDF

In the past decade, the number of researchers and the standard of healthcare are rapidly rising in the Asia Pacific region. These factors bring about a soaring demand for high-quality healthcare and interest for biomedical research. To give this group of emerging investigators professional development opportunities overseas, we organized IDDF. It is essentially a platform for gastroenterologists, hepatologists, endoscopists and related professionals to learn, exchange and connect. Attendees from young investigators to world-class experts congregate here to discuss ideas, showcase research, update knowledge of the latest trends and expand professional network. Connecting people, expertise, research and technology, truly,

IDDF is connecting the very best of GI.

The Organizer

IDDF is organised by the Institute of Digestive Disease (IDD) of
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).

The founder, Professor Joseph Sung, the current president and vice-chancellor assembled a multidisciplinary team to bring together the best patient care, research and education in gastroenterological disorders. IDD was thus established. Physicians, surgeons, molecular biologists, pharmacologists, pathologists, microbiologists, psychiatrists, public health specialists and radiologists collaborate closely. They have contributed to major breakthroughs including endoscopic therapies, minimally invasive surgery, research on molecular
diagnostic tools for cancers, novel treatments for acid-peptic disease, to name only a few. The spirit of collaboration fosters IDD’s development into a giant institute comprised of a PRC government approved State Key Laboratory, a Bowel Cancer Education Centre, a Hepatitis B Research Centre, a GI Clinical Trial & Outcome Research Centre, a Centre for Digestive Health, an Endoscopy Training and Education Unit and an Endoscopy Centre named as a world-class selective Centre of Excellence.
